May Kwan
May’s first encounter with Sogetsu ikebana was in Hong Kong during the 60s when Ms Minna Young hosted a TV show on Sogetsu Ikebana. She and her mum were fascinated by the simplicity of the arrangements. May was very happy that she could receive her lessons directly with Ms Young when she started her Sogetsu lessons in the 70s in Hong Kong. She was also lucky to be able to continue with her lessons in Sydney with Sensei Yoshiro in the 90s and the various visiting Masters from Japan throughout the period. These lessons were invaluable in advancing her insights into the simplicity of line, mass and colour and studying the arrangements of Sofu. Apart from ikebana, May also likes architecture, sculpture, ceramics and music.
