Vivid

Written by Sandy Marker

Today’s theme was inspired by the recent ‘Vivid’ show in Sydney, a great visual treat. With this in mind the criteria was ‘let go’ with the colour palette and have fun, resulting in brightening up a cold damp day.

Several students worked in ‘complementary colours’ that is: colours that sit opposite each other on the colour wheel e.g. purple/yellow, orange/blue etc. While others worked in ‘analogous colours’: any three colours which are side by side on a 12-part colour wheel. Then, some students just ‘let go’ with crazy luminous colours such as hot pink/orange, often thought as jarring colours.
