Ikebana Workshop by Sandra Cottee

Written by Sandra Cottee

In the lovely old Clunes community hall, a group of Byron Bay people who attend tea ceremony came to learn about Ikebana. After a demonstration of a basic arrangement (2nd Variation Upright Moribana ), participants chose their material and containers and made arrangements. After a short critique and adjustments, they were very happy with their results.
Next, for a chabana (tea ceremony arrangement) – they each chose a ‘wabi sabi’ vessel and made a very simple arrangement, then used the light from the windows to photograph their work.
