Today was the last class with Sensei Seiseki Umemura for 2019 leaving us continue our creativity by on our own until February next year.
To celebrate the pending festive season the theme was set to emphasis Gold and Silver, both celebratory colours. Red and white are also used in Japanese celebration arrangements.
Finding fresh floral material either gold or silver is virtually impossible so dried material succumbed to a good dose of spray paint. Actually a good secret: sparingly spray fresh Gypsophila with white paint – it keeps it fresh looking and prevents sagging especially if it is sitting under spotlighting in an exhibition. Gypsophila sprayed with silver paint was a new twist and very effective. Another example of spray paint Jorgen sprayed the out section of an artichoke leaving the centre a rich mauve colour creating an interesting effect.
