Creative forms with Yupo Paper

Written by Sandy Marker

YUPO is the recyclable, waterproof, ‘tree-free’ Synthetic Paper. Review textbooks lesson that include unconventional material in arrangements.
How do you work with Yupo paper? Firstly you need to have access to a source of heat – a camping stove is perfect. A candle flame tends to leave blackened streaks on you form. Hold the Yupo paper above the flame and as it heats you can change the shape or hold it there longer to burn holes. You have a certain amount of control in creating the form but there is an element of exciting and unexpected results.
Be aware of OH&S because the material does get hot; with this in mind have lots of fun making your form then add plant material to complete the exercise.
