Once I came across a description of Ikebana, that it was “an art that can expand your appreciation of beauty”. I believe it aptly describes how I feel about the Japanese art of floral arrangement, and the fascination with this art form led me to begin my journey with Ikebana when I started Sogetsu lessons with Sandy Marker in 2018.

Having previously trained as a florist, I find Sogetsu Ikebana gives me a sense of satisfaction and challenge in that it is not only the final result of an arrangement we can appreciate but also the process itself while creating the arrangement, which can bring great enjoyment to the ikebanist.
