Camellia Research Society Annual Exhibition
Written by Sandy Marker
The weather can be kind to some and not so good for others. One would have thought the over abundance of rain could have played havoc with the camellia blooms for this show. If it did, my eye did not see the evidence as I scanned over the tables of blooms on display. Maybe my eye is not as trained for the finer details of camellia blooms but this did not stop me being in awe of the amazing selection of the so called ‘humble’ camellia I remember as a child. I stand corrected – camellias are so amazing.
The Sogetsu Teacher’ Association was invited to do arrangements at the exhibition. We were fortunate to b able to use flowers other than camellias so we were not in competition with the huge array of camellias on display
The Camellia Society permitted the Sogetsu Teachers Association to sell ‘Reflecting Wave’ – the camellia propagated in honour of Mr Norman Sparnon OAM, for the 50 years celebration of Sogetsu in Australia and New Zealand held in May this year.
